Having handled hundreds of criminal cases across Maryland, Attorney H. Alex Garcia has established himself as a powerful courtroom advocate who pairs aggressive representation with compassionate guidance for every client he represents. A seasoned trial attorney, he has represented individuals facing charges ranging from traffic and DUI/DWI charges to serious felonies, including drug offenses, sex offenses, robberies and homicides.

Mr. Garcia began his legal career as an Assistant Public Defender at the Office of the Public Defender in Montgomery County, Maryland, where he represented indigent clients from initial bail review hearings through trial. This experience gave him unmatched courtroom exposure early in his career and taught him how to build and present strong defenses under pressure. He later spent several years working at two prominent private criminal defense firms, where he sharpened his trial skills while continuing his mission of defending clients facing serious criminal charges in District and Circuit Courts across Maryland.

After receiving his bachelor's degree in Political Science from American University in 2017, Mr. Garcia pursued his legal education at American University Washington College of Law and was awarded his Juris Doctorate in 2020. During law school, Mr. Garcia served as a student attorney in the Criminal Defense Clinic, gaining his first courtroom experience representing clients in Montgomery County District Court. He also worked with the International Human Rights Law Clinic on federal prison conditions cases and interned at the Superior Court for District of Columbia, the Maryland Office of the Public Defender, and the Office of the Federal Public Defender for the District of Maryland in Baltimore, where, while still a student, he authored a motion to dismiss an immigration-related case under the Supreme Court’s then-newly-decided Pereira v. Sessions (2018), resulting in dismissal of the client's case. He has honed his skills through trial advocacy programs taught by faculty from the National Criminal Defense College and The Public Defender Service for D.C.

Mr. Garcia is a native Spanish speaker. Raised in Frederick County and proud of his roots as the son of immigrant parents from El Salvador and Nicaragua, Mr. Garcia brings a deeply personal connection to his work. His understanding of the communities he serves was shaped long before he ever stepped foot in a courtroom, and it continues to fuel his commitment to his clients daily.
